Ayşe, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 影片通过跨越数千年、不同时空的三条故事线，交织出无形之中彼此呼应的科幻寓言。

　　一场车祸夺去了父母的性命，年幼的奥斯卡和妹妹琳达发誓永不分开。成年后，奥斯卡（Nathaniel Brown 饰）漂泊来至东京，为了实现童年的誓言，他以兜售毒品赚取钱财，终于为琳达（Paz de la Huerta 饰）挣得了飞来东京的机票。兄妹相遇，却终是随波逐流的个体。在这个繁花乱坠迷人眼的大都会，奥斯卡继续进行毒品交易，而琳达则在一家夜总会大跳艳舞。在一次交易时，奥斯卡遭到警察围捕，混乱中更被枪击身亡。他的意识渐渐脱离肉体，穿梭在东京的大街小巷，关注跟随每一个在他生命中留下痕迹的人，等待着下一场不知何时才会开始的轮回……　　本片荣获2009年Sitges – Catalonian国际电影节最佳摄影奖和评委会特别奖。
